— Cassandra Bird (@ddubs_canadagrl) November 12, 2020 “SWAT” is an action drama TV series that Shawn Ryan had decided to develop. He was going to adapt it based on a series from 1975 with the same name. Robert Hammer and Rick Husky were the creators of the original show (1975). Anyhow, Shawn Ryan was going to team up with Original Film. At that time, Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios were looking for shows to broadcast on the American broadcast networks. Finally, CBS gave a green light to a pilot episode written by Shawn Ryan and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas. Consequently, they were the developers of the show. Nicolas Bradley and Shemar Moore took on as the producers of the series with CBS Media Ventures and Sony Pictures Television getting the distribution rights. The story of the show revolves around Sergeant Daniel Hondo Harrelson. He is a former Marine and a lifetime Los Angeles local. He is appointed to lead a new ‘last stop’ Special Weapons and Tactics Unit. Being born and brought up in Los Angeles, Hondo feels deeply loyal to the people he serves apart from his ‘brothers in blue’. This leads to him being qualified and hence, appointed to lead the team.
