Ms. Marvel – A Comic Based TV Series
Ms. Marvel, this forthcoming TV series is based on a Marvel Studio’s published Comic Book titled Kamala Khan. This comic covers the storyline where Kamala Khan is the first Muslim Marvel character in a leading role and a fictional superhero. Kamala Khan Comic, comprised of editors Stephen Wacker and Sana Amanat, and writer G. Willow Wilson. This Muslim character was introduced with her appearance in Captain Marvel 14 in the year 2013 for the first time ever.
The Storyline, Cast, and Crew
Ms. Marvel is a Superhero Genre Television series. It is created by Bisha K. Ali, a reputed and known comedian, along with the production company Marvel Studios. The production company launched WandaVision as their first Marvel series in January. This awaited American Television series revolves around a Comic Book character- Kamala Khan and her story. The central character is a teenage Pakistani American in New Jersey, who looks out for different ways, living in a Pakistani American religious family. Kamala has a strange ability to shape lift, her entire appearance or a few body parts as well as can enlarge or shrink her body size. Initially, she used the superpower within her neighborhood but eventually ended up becoming Ms. Marvel and a part of the Civil War 2. Kamala with her ability to be hilarious is seen having great bonds with her family and friends. The cast and crew of Ms. Marvel consist of Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan or Ms. Marvel who plays the lead role of the teenage superhero, a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American, Zenobia Shroff as Muneeba Khan, the mother of Kamala Khan, Mohan Kapur as Yusuf Khan, the father of Kamala Khan, Saagar Shaikh as Amir Khan, the older brother of Kamala, Matt Lintz as Bruno Carrelli, Ms. Marvel’s best friend, Laurel Marsden as a guest appearance and Kamala’s frenemy- Zoe Zimmer, Aramis Knight as Kareem, and Rish Shah as Kamran, Kamala’s crush. The casting of Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Yasmeen Fletcher, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha has been done but their roles and characters are still not known.
The Role of the New Addition – Laurel Marsden
Laurel Marsden is the newcomer to the team cast to play the role and character of Zoe Zimmer. She was last seen in ‘Survive’ and her debut film, ‘Contempt’. Ms. Marvel is Laurel’s second TV series. Zoe Zimmer is one of the popular mean and shallow girls at her high school, ‘Coles Academic High’. Laurel Marsden is working alongside Iman Vellani as a frenemy to Ms. Marvel. She gradually becomes a friend as well as an ally to the main character. Laurel Marsden is a guest appearance in the TV series. The Character Zoe Zimmer has significance because despite being frenemies, Zoe is the first person Ms. Marvel rescues and saves her from drowning in the Hudson River. As reported, Laurel Marsden’s character Zoe will be involved in a love affair and separation with the popular high school boy -Josh Richardson. Apart from that, Zoe’s friendship with Kamala will be observed. A special and inseparable bond with Nakia is also predicted.
Ms. Marvel Surrounded with Controversies
Ever since the casting of the new TV series, Ms. Marvel has begun, it has been part of controversy and news. With the lead role being a Muslim character, the reviews reflected a mixed emotion among the people. Fans started off a Twitter trend with #FixMsMarvel. This Twitter trend mirrored the distress among the fans regarding few casting decisions. According to the fans, the casting and series will not do justice to the original religious thoughts, beliefs, and characters of the original comic. These controversies have not been addressed by any of the official members yet.
