There is news spreading like wildfire on the internet regarding the release of some big names from WWE. Braun Strowman and Aleister Black are two names that are making rounds because of how popular they are. It comes as a shock if the company is releasing these two. Especially because WWE is officially getting back on the road in July with the audience returning to arenas to enjoy their shows. Names like Braun Strowman and Aleister Black serve as big attractions for the company. They both have garnered enough success and great runs. Now the question remains is it true? Did WWE release Braun Strowman amidst the company’s big return? What is Strowman’s reaction to his release? And what is the future for the company if it’s true? Let’s take a look at it.
Did WWE Release Braun Strowman?
The news might come as a shock but yes. WWE has officially released Braun Strowman along with several other superstars from their contracts. Initially, Fightful confirmed the release. Apart from Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Ruby Riott, Santana Garett, and Buddy Murphy saw their release coming as well. Once the news spread like wildfire, even WWE took it to their official website to confirm their decision. The fans didn’t accept the news gladly. The thing is, Strowman’s very debut, WWE was in the process of building him as a promising superstar in their company. He was already close with several achievements on his back. From the Greatest Royal Rumble win to a WWE Universal Title Run. Even Vince McMahon adored the wrestler because of his built physique, and Strowman had decent mic skills to make it in the industry. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful speculates that Strowman’s huge contract is the reason behind his release. At the moment, Strowman was making $1 million a year after the four-year contract he signed in the year 2019. There are also speculations of the company being sold despite the denials of officials at WWE. Also note, Braun Strowman was quite recently in the main event picture last month at Wrestlemania Backlash. He competed in a triple threat match for the WWE title against Drew McIntyre and the Champion Bobby Lashley. Despite losing, WWE saw Braun Strowman as one of the future faces of the company. So one way or another, his release still seems quite random at the moment until a proper reason comes ahead.
Braun Strowman’s Reaction On His WWE Release
— Braun Strowman (@BraunStrowman) June 2, 2021 After hours of the official announcement, Braun Strowman took it to Twitter and Instagram to share his reaction. On Twitter, he went on to write about what a chapter WWE has been in his life. He further thanked everyone who was part of this journey. On his Instagram handle, Braun Strowman posted a picture posing along with his WWE friends. In the picture, there are other wrestlers who also saw their release from WWE in the past few years for one or two reasons. The picture includes Samoa Joe, Adrian Neville (Pac), Curtis Axel, Bo Dallas, Curt Hawkins, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson. The only active WWE wrestler in the picture is Bray Wyatt. What Does This Mean For Braun Strowman?
Right at the moment, the fans are lost on what WWE is doing at the moment. The company is bound to lose quite an audience after the release of these superstars. Most of the superstars mentioned are quite talented and can carry the company’s future. Strowman is already a huge star and an attraction despite the criticism he receives for his wrestling. The man’s a monster and can make his presence felt. In an interview way back, Strowman called WWE is home. But it’s not the same anymore. Still, the other big wrestling companies such as AEW and Impact Wrestling can easily accept him and bank on his already established personality. Stars like Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Rusev, and The Good Brothers have done the same and are doing quite well. So at the end of the day, the release is quite random. Even considering the other superstars such as Aleister Black, who recently returned to TV. He was destined to be a big star. Lana was making improvements on her wrestling and was quite active on Raw. Ruby Riott is one of the most talented women wrestlers out there, and WWE could have benefitted from her. Santana Garett seems like she wasn’t on TV much more, and so her release is considerable. But lastly, Buddy Murphy is another superstar who is talented as well and was active on the roster last year in a high-profile feud with Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio.
