Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Plot Summary
Demon Slayer: Mugen Train continues the story from the original series right where it left off. Tanjiiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke boarding the Mugen Train on their next mission. Hunting down a demon name Enmu who has killed over 40 demon slayers in the past is no easy task itself. Thus, it calls for help from one of the pillars himself. Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, boards the train as well assisted by the Tanjiro and his friends to take down this demon. Rengoku, assisted by Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zentisu, and Inosuke, might take down the easy-peasy demons. But things will go upside down when Enumu merges himself with the entire train. The question remains how the Demon Slayers look to kill him and save the passengers at the same time.
Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Review
Let’s begin with the storyline. The movie picked up the pace of the series brilliantly with the same tone and balance. There is no difference left when it comes to storytelling and action sequences in the movie compared to the original series. Plus, the comical elements as well, which are quite on-point. The movie clearly vibes in for the fans of the original series. The opening mild introduction fight sequences are the proof. Apart from that, an introduction to the newcomers is something to look at. They are brilliant. But there is still a lack of layer. So let’s talk about it. Coming to characters, each and every character has a great standout moment. Especially Inosuke and Rengoku.Talking about Rengoku, he is like the centerpiece of the film. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train kind of carries itself on the shoulders of the beloved Flame Hashira. The character has quite a good vibe. Still, we find ourselves lost somewhere when it comes to him and what his story is. We come to that in the subconscious world.
Subconscious Minds
A world of each Demon Slayer traveling in the train. Each with its own kind of subconscious elements. Plus, we also witnessed their dreams and everything they desired for. Those initial parts are moments that involve a lot of emotional touch in the storyline. There is a sequence with Tanjiro and his family which might almost leave you in tears. Something the movie kind of teased us is about to happen sooner. Even the fans who didn’t follow the series might feel the characters and their struggles. Those moments are what we call just “a beautiful story” indeed. That’s where Rengoku left off, and we needed much from him. Anyway, that compensates too in the ending parts. Coming to the villains Enmu and Akaza. This is something pointed out by many fans. For the very first time, we didn’t see actually witness the backstory of these major villains. Enmu literally only regretted his decisions while Akaza had his own reasons to live for and kill for.
The Action Sequences, Animation and Emotional Weightage
Okay, no backstories don’t mean Demon Slayer: Mugen Train completely left out for the new characters. The Action sequences of these characters compensated for the backstories, if we agree. For example, the conversations, especially during Rengoku’s battle with Akaza, were quite intriguing and engaging. It was like watching a fight as a debate with two schools of thought colliding. Those conversations compensated a told a lot more about them for the audience to be interested. It literally told us enough about Rengoku himself. Even if we don’t remember his presence from the original series or didn’t have much from him initially. The animation, on its part, is quite a good combination of 2D and 3D elements for Demon Slayer: Mugen. Probably one of the pivotal aspects that stands out at 100%. Furthermore, the movie ends kind off leaving an emotional impact on the audiences. A shock or a depth of sadness. Whatever you may wanna call it. But at the end of the day, it states there is a lot more to this story. Suggesting it will all sum up in the upcoming Demon Slayer Season 2 or the other movies if planned.
