Koyoharu Gotoge who created the Demon Slayer Manga has obtained a lot of popularity in the last two years. His work, Demon Slayer, sold about 60 million copies since it started in 2016. The Manga also received an Anime Adaptation that was one of the biggest hits of 2019. You would probably expect such a popular story to keep running for longer but it didn’t. Demon Slayer manga has published its last chapter, No 205, on May 17th. Read more about it here: How Many Years Passed In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Final Chapter
Reasons for the Ending
Some sources claim that Gotoge had to quickly finish the manga in the last chapters due to some personal reasons. He has some disagreements with his parents that lead him to leave Tokyo. As a result, he had to rush the ending. That is why the final chapters of the manga had low-quality drawings and left some plot holes. The characters that defeated Muzan were not fully developed either. Due to Gotoge’s tight time frame, the final chapters were not up to the standards of his initial work. The Manga ended after the main villain, Muzan, was defeated. “Muzan” is the first demon ever who was created by a drug injected in him at a very young age. The doctor who injected this drug and his origin is unknown. But as there has been no need for Demon Slayers in the fifty years or so, it is unlikely that any demons exist. The writer could have expanded the story by introducing more characters who were as powerful as Muzan. There are many more side stories that could have come out of this hit story.
Is there are a sequel?
The chances of any sequels on this work are very slim. Gotoge gave up on this when he announced that the manga will end soon. The last two chapters of the manga had a sense of finality to them. Chapter 204 takes the story to 3 months after the battle. There were many casualties after the battle with Muzan. Despite that, the threat is completely taken care of. Demon Slayer Corps have hunted down every other demon present in Japan in the past. Their work is finished. So, now, they disband the Demon Slayer Corps and everyone lives on their own life after they recover. In Chapter 205, the writer made the ending even more final when he introduced us to the great-grandchildren of the main characters of the Demon Slayer. Tanjiro and Kanao married each other which expanded the Kamado family. Other descendants of popular characters are also seen for the new generation. They carry the traits of their ancestors and aspire to make a name for themselves in the modern world.
Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba Chapter 206 release date
The writer has issues in his family, so maybe after all that is sorted out, we might get an extended epilogue explaining what happened after Chapter 204. It is not impossible, we could get chapter 206 sometime in 2020, this is because of the reviews the fans of the mangas are giving and showing their anger toward the ending of the series, calling it, an unfinished ending. On the other hand, the writer has not left much room for expansion of the story now. If there was no uprising of demons again in such a long time, this current generation seen in chapter 205 is unlikely to face Demons. There could be side stories and special content but after the writer has sorted out his family issues. He doesn’t plan to continue on this series right now.
