BTS has been the pallbearer of South Korea’s celebrated Hallyu Wave in the West which is basically nothing but the growing influence of the country’s popular culture across the world. Though they debuted in 2013 under a small agency – Big Hit Entertainment, BTS truly achieved K-Pop level success after their album Wings and The Most Beautiful Moment In Life were released. These seven young boys from South Korea have not only changed their home country’s music scene but that of the entire world. They have been unstoppable since. In August last year, after their Map Of The Soul 7 World Tour was canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, they released their first all-English single Dynamite. This release helped them earn the No. 1 Spot in the Billboard Hot 100 list for the very first time in their career. Dynamite turned out to be the band’s biggest release in their entire career as it also helped them gain a Grammy nomination late last year in the ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category. Though they didn’t win the award, it’s only a matter of time for BTS before they become Grammy winners. In late April, BTS announced their next comeback in May with the band’s second all-English single Butter. For the entirety of the month of May 2021, the band has released several teaser photos leading up to the release of the song. On May 18th, they dropped the last teaser video before the release of the song on Friday. Read on to find out more about Butter.
BTS Drops The Last Teaser Before The Official Release Of ‘Butter’
On the 18th of May 2021, at midnight KST, the record-breaking boy band – BTS or Beyond The Scene dropped the video teaser for their upcoming all-English single Butter which is all set to be released on the 21st of May 2021. Butter follows the band’s smash hit first all-English single Dynamite which was released in August last year. In The 23-second short teaser, about 5 seconds of which is taken by the BigHit introduction, we see the seven members wearing chic clothes. They bop their heads to their right sides as funky music plays as the background score. With slight traces of the legendary boyband, Queen’s Another One Bites The Dust, the boys’ faces are devoid of any emotions. However, they all have sharp looks in their eyes, except members V and SUGA who are seen wearing shades. While everyone else is clad in black suits, we see members Jin and Jimin wear white ones. The boys also point at the camera with a look of shock as pancakes topped with butter appear on the screen. The only lyrics that can be heard, with member Jungkook’s voice dominating over the others, if any, is “Get it, let it roll”. When BTS’s agency announced Butter, they made it clear that this song is going to be very different from the band’s past discography. Butter will apparently be a ‘dance-pop track brimming with the smooth yet charismatic charm of BTS’ as described by the comeback announcement. At the time of writing this article, within 24-hours the teaser clip garnered over 31 million views on YouTube. This is a possible indicator for a massive Billboard Hot 100 debut – marking the fourth Number 1 position for BTS. BTS will perform Butter for the first time on May 23rd at the Billboard Music Awards where they have been nominated in 4 categories.
Boyband Queen Praises The Septet Boy Band BTS
Soon after BTS released the teaser for Butter, ARMY fans all across the world engaged in an important conversation on Twitter – Butter’s background score had an uncanny similarity to that of the rock band Queen’s ‘Another One Bites The Dust. This soon came to Queen’s notice who retweeted BigHit Music’s teaser release announcement tweet. They also praised the boy band on several past occasions for the music that BTS repeatedly puts out. Though the tweet is now deleted, it showed that the legendary rock band genuinely appreciates BTS’ content and is also looking forward to Butter.
